“Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace.” Amelia Earhart
Earhart’s quote speaks to her bravery, vision and historic achievements, both in aviation and for women. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, the first person to fly solo across the Pacific; Earhart went missing in 1937 in her attempt to be the first woman to fly around the world. She was a fierce advocate for women, author, friend to Eleanor Roosevelt, and the first President of the Ninety Nines - an organization for women pilots.
The original artwork was created using watercolor and handmade papers - - and shows Amelia Earhart with her plane, the Elektra. It is a mixed media. I chose the colors of the sky and certain sunsets.
